Description

Speaker: Dr Fathiah Mohamed Zuki

Abstract: Dr Fathiah Mohamed Zuki presents her Smart Engineering & Sustainable Urban Farm project, which transforms an unused rooftop into a sustainable urban farm and living lab. Utilising practices like hydroponics, aquaponics, composting, and solar energy, they cultivate vegetables, rear fish and maintain beehives, creating a self-sustaining ecosystem. The project enhances biodiversity, reduces waste, promotes food security and demonstrates urban green solutions. It provides hands-on learning and serves as a peaceful space for the community at the heart of Kuala Lumpur. This initiative underscores the critical role of education centres in fostering sustainability and environmental responsibility amidst growing urbanisation challenges.
