Abstract: A project to build the world largest mega factories, like petrochemical sites, needs multimillion dollar investments. Decisions on how to invest are based on the most advanced coordinated work to find the best solution. What is the best solution? It is the best feasible compromise harmonising technical, economic, financial, safety, regulatory and ecofriendly goals. Since many stakeholders influence decisions, the project must follow cutting-edge methodologies. Material and energy balances and preliminary drawings (Process Block, Process Flow, Plant Layout, P&IDs) define the concept of the project, facilitating communication between teams while aligning the project and the interest of the stakeholders.
