BIERGTalk International Seminar Series. Renewable materials from biomass.

Activity: Participating in or organising an event › Organising a conference, workshop, ...

Description

Speaker: Prof. Dr. Phung Kim Le

Abstract: Industrial and agricultural waste has been recently considered a valuable resource to be recycled into high-performance and multi-functional materials like multi-purpose aerogels toward sustainable development. A purpose would be to develop zero-waste, time-saving, eco-friendly and cost-effective solutions. For example, converting agrowastes and industrial by-products (like leaves and plastics) into materials for a myriad of applications like heat and sound insulation, packaging, oil adsorption, solvents, dyes, ion-lithium batteries and water treatment. The social impact of this technology translates into better pollution management, less land-fills and more arable land, water protection and biodegradable materials.
