BIERGTalk International Seminar Series. Simulation and modelling: helpful tools for chemical engineering.

Activity: Participating in or organising an event › Organising a conference, workshop, ...

Description

Speaker: Jing Liu

Abstract: Process simulators have improved Chemical engineering for decades, providing more efficient ways to perform process analysis, property calculations/estimations and profit optimization, to cite a few. The diversity is also vast - depending on the main purpose, the tools can focus on thermodynamics, energy efficiency, capital cost estimation, safety analysis, equipment design and rating, dynamic modelling, real-time optimization and more. Now, modelling is getting into a new era, such as combining machine learning with the traditional first principles models to form the industrial AI experience for users while putting models online to create digital twins for better monitoring and optimization. This talk presents an overview of the current popular simulators and their applicable range, new industrial AI introduction and best practice in preparing final year projects.
