BIERGTalk International Seminar Series. Thinking like a pharmaceutical engineer.

Activity: Participating in or organising an event › Organising a conference, workshop, ...

Description

Speaker: Eur Ing Keith Plumb

Abstact: The pharmaceutical industry is dominated by the need to protect the safety of the end-user, adulterated pharmaceutical products can easily be fatal. Most pharmaceutical processes are batch process and frequently involve solids so that engineering in the pharmaceutical industry is much closer to an art than a science.
This presentation looks at some simple problems and design processes that illustrate how industrial pharmaceutical engineers think and how different this thinking is compared to what is frequently taught in universities and probably the approach to chemical engineering in other industries.
