Research interests

Dr Adesola (Shola) Osinaike is Head of Tourism, Hospitality, Events and Marketing at Canterbury Christ Church University, where she provides strategic leadership for a multidisciplinary portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Her role focuses on academic quality, curriculum development, student experience and supporting colleagues to deliver inclusive, innovative and industry-informed education.

Her research explores contemporary issues in hospitality and tourism management, with particular interests in sustainability, organisational behaviour and strategic management. She investigates how organisations can adopt sustainable management practices, improve organisational performance and respond to the evolving challenges facing the hospitality and tourism sectors, particularly within developing countries. Her current research includes food waste management, sustainability in hotels, talent management, employer branding, employee wellbeing and workplace challenges such as sexual harassment. She is also researching the sustainability of space tourism and the contribution of diaspora communities to tourism, entrepreneurship, knowledge exchange and sustainable development. Through interdisciplinary and collaborative research, she seeks to generate evidence that informs policy, advances academic knowledge and supports innovation in business and society.

Beyond the University, Shola contributes to the higher education sector through leadership, governance and scholarly service. She is a Trustee of Eastbridge Hospital, Canterbury, one of England's oldest charitable foundations, supporting its strategic direction and heritage. She also contributes to academic publishing as a reviewer for leading tourism and hospitality journals and has served as Guest Editor for special issues on Events in Africa and Gastronomy Tourism in the Global South, promoting international scholarship on sustainable tourism, hospitality and destination development.
