Abstract
This exhibition showcased 'Arcade Britannia', a digital heritage project led by Prof Alan Meades recreating two 1980s seaside arcades in Herne Bay. The project was informed by Meades's monograph of the same title published by MIT Press.
The exhibition was conceptualised and curated by Dr Katie McGown and designed to link the practice-based research of Mr Rob Ball's photography and bookwork practice.
The curatorial approach was intended to celebrate the specific cultural significance of British seaside arcades and provide multiple points of engagement for visitors including 'Arcade Britannia' on a vintage arcade cabinet, 360 degree videos of the project on a monitor linked to an accessible trackball, a new comic by Meades, five photographs by Ball, alongside a new bookwork 'Arcade Carpets'.
