Abstract
A public screening of archive film of the Canterbury area discovered during research by Tim Jones on amateur filmmaking. The films reveal the changing face of Canterbury and the surrounding area from the 1930s onwards and give an insight into the development of amateur filmmaking. The screenings are interactive in nature, providing an opportunity for the audience to share their knowledge of the local area.
This screening included film of Dennes Mill fire in Canterbury, the 1953 flood shot in 3D and unique behind the scenes footage of Academy Award winner, Peter Watkins’ ‘lost’ film, Dust Fever.
Public Screening at Canterbury Christ Church University on 1 Mar 2014, 22 Mar 2014 and 29 Apr 2017.
