Abstract
In this talk the context of the events of 1918, leading up to the armistice on 11 November, are explored. For many, the war seemed to be perfectly capable of running into 1919, and the armistice came earlier than predicted. Remembrance throughout Kent, over the past one hundred years, is used to demonstrate the sacrifices made by local and national communities.
