Abstract
How has the era of post-truth changed our perceptions of authenticity?
In the era of post-truth and fake news, the adjective authentic is used to describe places, people, objects and processes as diverse as polititians, food, management approaches and artisan bread. We ask to what extent the meaning of the terms authentic and inauthentic have endured or are changing across different disciplines today.
On the 19 June, the Authenticity Collective (an interdisciplinary discussion group of academics and practitioners who are interested in authenticity) will assemble at Canterbury Christ Church University to consider contemporary authenticity in practice and academia. We will make new interdisciplinary connections by exploring authentic (and inauthentic) aspects of the artistic process, creative spaces and places, historic restoration and recreation, sports psychology, the placebo effect, craftsmanship and maker culture, dreams and reality, Boho tourism, adventure tourism, spectacle, dance and embodiment, architecture and light installations.
You are invited to join the conversation and become a part of the Authenticity Collective.
