Abstract

What do problem-solving, effective communication and critical thinking have in common? All three appear in a list of top ten essential skills identified by wide-ranging websites and think tanks, from the World Economic Forum Future of Jobs Report (2020) to YouGov polls. It is clear that in considering future skills and the future of work, the way we design (or re-design) teaching and learning in higher education needs to be transformed so that future graduates’ capabilities, skills and knowledge provide a relevant combination of both technical expertise and intangible knowledge and skills.
