Abstract

Despite characterizations of the trans memoir as constricting for trans identities, Kate Bornstein’s Gender Outlaw and Juliet Jacques’s Trans: A Memoir rearrange and distort the timeline of transition typical of this genre to undo from within the linear and progressive constitution of a stable identity prescribed by dominant medicolegal discourses.
