Abstract
An examination of the ways in which the image of the Canterbury catch Club produced in 1826 presents an idealised version of the club as its members wold have wished to see themselves and to be seen by the outside world. Contemporary records from the cathedral archives and other sources are analysed to discover the extent to which they corroborate the Club's view of itself.
