The methodology conundrum in arts and dementia research

Arts interventions are incredibly complex and this poses significant challenges in terms of research and evaluation. This session will explore the key questions and research priorities for the arts and dementia field as well as the challenges faced by researchers and practitioners when trying to understand/ demonstrate the impact of an intervention. This session will also consider what counts as ‘quality’ evidence, how this can be built upon and which methodologies might be most appropriate in this endeavour. The value and role of more creative research methodologies will be explored.
