Abstract
This disc presents three sonatas, two for the first time in versions for viola and piano. The Sonata by John Ireland, originally for violin, is arranged by Martin Outram and is published by Stainer and Bell. The Sonata by Charles Villiers Stanford was originally written for clarinet but arranged with the composer's approval by Henry Waldo Warner. This is its first recording. The Sonata by Rebecca Clarke has long been a staple of the viola repertoire and is performed throughout the world.
