What feedback do students want?

    Research output: Contribution to conferencePaper

    Abstract

A new approach to digital assessment - summative audio feedback (3-minutes) through Turnitin was trailed across a department (2020-2021) offering courses in psychology, natural and sport sciences. 163 students and 46 staff replied to an anonymous online survey, and 6 staff gave views through a focus group. A repeat second anonymous online survey with a new cohort of students (2023-2024) captured the views of 55 students; 5 participated in a focus group. This investigation found “what” feedback students considered most important and unpacked their experiences, engagement and emotional reactions to formative, summative, written, and audio feedback.
